Our Story

Our Story – D Street Board Room

Where Purpose Meets Passion: Private Equity Meets Surf Culture

When you walk into the surf shop, you’ll notice something unique: it’s more than just a place to grab boards and gear—it’s also the headquarters of a private equity practice rooted in social impact. This space blends two worlds intentionally, both grounded in the values of accessibility, empowerment, and community uplift.

Private Equity for Housing Justice

Our private equity work empowers housing nonprofits to rebuild communities and expand access to homeownership. More than 90% of our acquisitions have become affordable homes for first-time and low-income buyers.

D Street & HSS: Changing the Surf Narrative

At D Street and with our HSS line, we’re trying to keep things affordable. In a surf world dominated by overpriced labels, we’ve built our own line of gear—built to perform, built to last, and built so more people can afford to ride.

Surf Museum

The Surf Museum at D Street tells a story—of the pioneers who shaped a movement that became more than just a sport.

Today’s surf world is fast and ever-changing, but the museum reminds us where it all started. We honor those simpler times, reconnecting every surfer to what truly matters: the rhythm of the ocean, the thrill of the wave, and the soul of the surf lifestyle.

One Mission, Two Vehicles

Whether we’re reshaping neighborhoods or shaping boards, we’re here to build opportunity, foster community, and make the surf lifestyle accessible to all.

Our Commitment to You

At D Street Board Room, we’re passionate about providing top-quality surfboards and gear to our community—at affordable prices. Our mission is to help surfers find the right equipment to elevate their time in the water, while supporting the local surf culture we deeply believe in.

Join the Journey - Collaboration & Sponsorships

We're building a community of ocean lovers who believe in giving back.

We sponsor surfers not just for their wins, but for their character and commitment to mentoring others. Through co-branded apparel and gear, we help support the financial demands of competition.

We collaborate with local shapers to craft custom HSS boards—highlighting both our brands in the process.

We work with local artists to create ocean-inspired products that reflect our shared love for the sea.

If you're passionate about the ocean and community, let’s connect and grow something meaningful together.
