Louis Amaya, the heart and soul behind D Street Board Room, turned his lifelong love for surfing into a business that embodies his passion and expertise. With a background in real estate and private equity, Louis always found balance on the water. Surfing since the age of 15, he’s spent decades catching waves and soaking in the surf culture that inspires his shop today.

Relocating his office to Encinitas, Louis quickly fell in love with the local surf scene. Regular visits to nearby surf shops sparked an idea: why not create a space where surfers could find the perfect board while supporting local shapers? Thus, D Street Board Room was born—a name paying homage to both his office on D Street and his career roots in private equity.
